Vintage is underway!
Casella Wine’s first crush commences for Vintage 2009.
Harvest for Vintage 2009 commenced on the 20th January with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc the first varieties to come into the winery for processing.
Currently we have processed approximately 62,500 tonnes of grapes in 23 days (this time last we year we had processed 55,500 tonnes!).
Daily crush figures will range on average between 2000-5000 tonnes per day. Forecasted tonnes of up to +170,000 tonnes are expected and again we have the potential to crush our largest vintage with 2008 holding the current record of 172, 000 tonnes.
Overall, Vintage 2009 is set to be an exceptional year with excellent quality fruit and high quality yields.
