[yellow tail] Shiraz a top 100 wine

A bottle of wine is an elegant and delicious addition to any meal. People drink wine to celebrate, to match with a particular meal, or just to unwind at the end of a long and stressful day.  Askdeb.com looks at the top 100 wines that everyone can afford and [yellow tail] Shiraz 2007 is in the top 10 for Good cheap Syrah / Shiraz

Yellow Tail Shiraz 2007 ($7) -The ubiquitous Yellow Tail label is much maligned as "cheap wine" - and it is inexpensive. However, the 2007 Shiraz they produced is the best of all the Yellow Tail wines I've tried, and priced right to pick up a case or two. Eat this with your favorite strong flavored cheese for a wonderful taste blend. Full-bodied featuring notes of spice and vanilla.

[yellow tail] Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Julian Goldrey suggests [yellow tail] Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Very clean on the nose, and very correct too. This is textbook Cabernet, with some dusty leaf, some dark fruit and cedar oak. It's also textbook in the sense that it feels a bit detached and clinical -- if beauty relies on flaws, this wine's aroma never quite approaches a sense of the beautiful because it's just so correct. Not to linger too much on this point; there's something to be said for a wine without distractions.
Quite structured in the mouth, with abundant though balanced acidity and firm, ripe tannins. In terms of the way this wine flows, there's an unnerving precision to its crescendo from entry to middle palate. It's totally controlled and linear. A good deal of flavour is present at this point, mostly dark fruit with some complexity from citrus and oak notes. I detect a little overripeness in the fruit character. Sappy oak begins to dominate the after palate and this continues, along with plenty of drying tannins, through a decent finish. There's a pretty reverberation right at the end of the line. This tastes like a more expensive wine than it is.
It's all terribly well done. A good casual dinner party wine. I feel guilty for not being more excited.

[yellow tail] Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 South Eastern Australia.

A lively Australian red full of red fruit flavours. Red and blackcurrant fruit flavours jump out of the glass whilst hints of mint and a suggestion of coconut and vanilla from some oak influence prolong the flavour in this wine.

Great with pizza or pasta.
